How to adjust the Brakes

Companion One, Plus and Q

Allex Laurin

Last Update 2 years ago

If the brake lever touches the handlebars when you squeeze it, or if the Companion is slow to stop when the brakes are applied, the brake cable is too loose.

To adjust the brakes, tighten the brake adjustment nut located on brake actuator that is mounted to the tire hub. Turning it clockwise will increase the tension on the brake cable. If you’ve tightened it successfully, you will immediately feel greater resistance when squeezing the brake lever. One or two complete turns should be sufficient, but it can be adjusted more until the braking is comfortable for the user. Brakes can be serviced by an authorized Companion service technician if they can no longer be adjusted.
